Book reading with Simi Genziuk

Simi is a circus performer and emerging author with a special interest in women’s issues. Since becoming a parent Simi has recognised a shortage of picture books about interesting, inspirational Australian women and girls. Simi wanted to write stories that educate and inspire. So she did.

Laughter Workshop

The Laughter Workshop is facilitated by Leeroy Hart, a professional clown and street performer of 20 years. According to Hart, laughter is something we seem to do a lot less of as we get older, depriving ourselves of countless health and lifestyle benefits that can come with a little chuckle. Research reveals that laughter helps to boost the immune system whilst decreasing the negative effects that stress can have on the body such as high blood pressure, heart disease and tension headaches. The act itself works on the concept of faking it, as whether or not we are laughing genuinely, the muscles we use and chemicals our bodies produce are the same. As most are aware, laughter can be extremely infectious, therefore in a group the results
can have you in hysterics.
