Training Program FAQs

(For weekend festival FAQs, please go here)

I’m a training participant, when can I arrive on site?

Training participants may arrive on site from 11am on Sunday, September 24. Upon arrival you will need to register to receive your training participant lanyard. Remember that your training program fee includes camping for 8 nights (the nights of Sunday September 24 – Sunday 1 October inclusive). The Training Program begins at 7.30am, Monday 25 September.

Should I print my training program registration?

We prefer that you save paper by not printing your registration. The registration desk is open  between 11am and 6pm on Sunday September 24 and when you arrive at Mullumbimby Showgrounds you will need to visit the registration desk to receive your Training Program lanyard. Please keep your lanyard on you at all times. If your lanyard is damaged or lost, you must immediately notify the box office.

Does my registration include a ticket for the festival?

Yes! After the training program, continue the pleasure and inspiration by seeing your peers and trainers take to the stage during the Mullum Circus Festival 3-day public program, also included in your registration.  Please keep your lanyard on you at all times. Your training lanyard will also act as your ticket for the festival.

Can I camp with friends?

Certainly, but please remember that you will need to arrive together to camp together.

Do I need to book into individual workshops before I arrive?

There is no need to book into any individual workshops before you arrive for the Training Program. Some workshops will require you to sign up for a session in the morning. This process will be explained to you once you arrive on site.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your own camping gear and be prepared for on site living with shared amenities.  Remember to also bring a torch, wet weather gear and sun protection as well as your own refillable water bottle. Mullum Circus Festival stainless steel water bottles will be available for purchase on site.

How do I get there?

The Mullum Circus Festival & Training Program will take place in the humble town of Mullumbimby, in Byron Shire on the NSW North Coast. The closest domestic airports are Gold Coast (Coolangatta) Airport, a 45 minute drive away with a  shuttle bus service to ‘Uncle Toms’ in Mullum which is operated by www.byroneasybus.com.au. Ballina/Byron Airport is a 30 minute drive away, with no direct shuttle to Mullum but a shuttle bus to Byron Bay which is also operated by www.byroneasybus.com.au.

The Gold Coast Airport services some international flights but the closest major international airport is Brisbane, 2 hours drive away. Mullumbimby is off the M1 Pacific Highway, easy to find by following the signs from the North or South.

Can I bring my pet to the Training Program?

Whilst we love animals, they are not allowed on the Mullumbimby Showgrounds for the duration of the festival.

Is there power available  for campers?

There is limited power at the festival site so you will be able to recharge your phone/personal devices as required. Please be aware that power sources will be shared. This is your chance to unplug and reconnect!

Can I buy food onsite?

Delicious homemade delights are available at our cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Save time and energy by pre-purchasing meals here. During the weekend festival, you will need to take care of your own meals. There will be a range of food vendors onsite and the famous Farmers Markets will be at the Showgrounds on Friday morning to stock up on delectables.

Can I BYO alcohol?

BYO alcohol is strictly forbidden. This is a licensed event. You are not permitted to bring alcohol on site.

Can I take photographs during the Training Program?

No film or video recording or flash photography is permitted at Mullum Circus Festival. Still photography without flash is permitted. If you require a recording for personal purposes, please request consent from event management prior to filming.

Can I apply to perform or be a trainer at the Mullum Circus Festival?

Thanks for your interest! Expressions of Interest closed on May 31 for Mullum Circus Festival 2017 and our performer and trainer positions are now filled for 2017. If you think you’d be a good fit for our community event in 2019 and have an act or skills to offer, please feel free to email us.

I’m a training participant. Can I bring my children to the Training Program?

While we do understand that many people have families with young children, our Training Program is essentially for adults. The Training Program has a limited number of youth places, strictly for 13 -17 year olds at 24 September, 2017. If you need to bring children younger than this, please purchase a 3-day Festival & Camping pass for each child and ensure that they have a supervising adult at all times. The main festival is a wonderful, family-friendly event with incredible performances, workshops and activities for children of all ages. Definitely DO consider bringing your children to the Mullum Circus Festival rather than the Training Program.

I have purchased a carers ticket for the Training Program and Festival week. How many youths can I supervise?

Carers may supervise up to 4 youths each.

I have purchased a training ticket but now I can’t attend. Is my ticket refundable?

Your tickets are non-refundable but fully transferable. If you can’t attend, send a friend. If you need to transfer the name on your training registration then please  email [email protected] prior to Sunday 24 September.
