Is this one of the National Circus Festivals?

The National Circus Festivals held in Tasmania over the past 25 years have set a precedent for circus culture and community in Australia. The Western Australian Circus Festival has since been established and now the Mullum Circus Festival has been hosting the exquisite vibe of Circus Festival culture in the vein of the National Circus Festival in 2001, 2013, 2015 and now in 2017.

Is the festival family friendly?

It sure is. We would love you to bring all the family, your kids and grandma.

Are there workshops on the weekend?

Absolutely. Workshops on the weekend will include; hula hoops, balloon twisting, juggling, trapeze and tight wire. There is also a play space for younger kids.

How do I get there?

The Mullum Circus Festival will take place in the humble town of Mullumbimby, in Byron Shire on the NSW North Coast. The closest domestic airports are Gold Coast (Coolangatta) Airport, a 45 minute drive away with a  shuttle bus service to ‘Uncle Toms’ in Mullum which is operated by www.byroneasybus.com.au. Ballina/Byron Airport is a 30 minute drive away, with no direct shuttle to Mullum but a shuttle bus to Byron Bay which is also operated by www.byroneasybus.com.au.

The Gold Coast Airport services some international flights but the closest major international airport is Brisbane, 2 hours drive away. Mullumbimby is off the M1 Pacific Highway, easy to find by following the signs from the North or South.

Is there camping? Where should I stay?

The Mullum Circus Festival will take place in the Mullumbimby Showgrounds. Limited 3-day Full Experience festival tickets with camping will be available for purchase until sold out. Camping is not available with Single Day tickets. There are many accommodation options in and around town that you are welcome to organise for yourself.

I have a 3-Day Festival Camping ticket, when can I arrive on site?

Full Experience 3-day camping pass holders may arrive at Mullumbimby Showgrounds between 2pm and 9pm on Friday 29 September. Campers will need to depart the site by 12pm on Monday 2 October.

I have a day ticket. What times are the festival gates open each day?

Friday 29 September, 4pm – 10pm

Saturday 30 September, 9.30am – 10pm

Sunday 1 October, 9.30am – 9.00pm

How do I collect my festival wristband?

You can collect your wristband from Box Office upon arrival at the Mullumbimby Showgrounds. We prefer that you save paper by not printing your ticket. You can present an e-ticket for scanning at the gate or simply present your ID (Driver’s License or Credit Card)  showing the name on your booking. If you have purchased a family ticket then please arrive at the gate  together.

Do you have concession prices for tickets?

We have child and youth tickets available for purchase but all adults are charged the same ticket price for entry into the festival. This is because we want to keep our ticket prices as low as possible for everybody.

I’ve heard you are a Waste Wise event. What does that mean?

Mullum Circus Festival is a Waste Wise event. We aim to prevent the creation of waste through encouraging thoughtful behaviour. People should be prepared to bring their own utensils, cups, plates and water bottles on site and the festival will only sell fully biodegradable and compostable plates and utensils.

The MCF Resource Recovery team also believe that we need to change our mindset and thinking about ‘waste’, to take a more holistic mindset about the life cycle of an object from manufacture to disposal so that we can view the use of the object as a precious resource that needs to be repurposed as many times as possible. This includes educating people at the ‘coalface’ or the ‘binface’ about sorting their ‘rubbish’ into their appropriate categories – red, yellow or green – to maximise efficient redistribution of resources.

Do I need to bring my own water bottle? Can I fill it onsite?

Yes and yes! No plastic water bottles will be sold at the festival but you can bring your own or purchase a Mullum Circus Fest bottle when you arrive.

Can I BYO alcohol?

BYO alcohol is strictly forbidden. This is a licensed event. You are not permitted to bring alcohol on site.

Can I take photographs at the event?

No film or video recording or flash photography is permitted at Mullum Circus Festival. Please respect this condition of entry. Still photography without flash is permitted.

Can I bring my dog/cat/pet to the festival?

Whilst we love animals, they are not allowed on the Mullumbimby Showgrounds for the duration of the festival.

Can I have a market stall at the Circus Festival?

Applications for 2017 market stalls at Mullum Circus Festival have now closed. We look forward to bringing you a small selection of wonderful market stalls to add to your circus festival experience.

Is the Mullumbimby Farmers’ Market still on Friday 29 September?

Is Spaghetti Circus performing every day?
